Temple's Juan Fernandez Signs Professional Contract with Italian Club

Former Temple Owl Juan Fernandez has agreed to a deal with EA7 Olimpia Milano in Italy.
The deal, a multi-year contract in the "high six-figures," came together while Fernandez was taking part in the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament this week, reports the Inquirer's Keith Pompey. The Portsmouth tournament is an annual event allowing NBA and overseas scouts to get a pre-draft look at eligible talent. Fernandez is one of just 64 players participating.
The senior guard averaged 11 points and just under four assists per game last season and finished second all-time in Temple history in three-point field goal percentage (40.2 percent). He is one of 48 players in Owl history in Temple's 1,000-point club.
Juan was one of three seniors to depart from the Temple program this year alongside Micheal Eric and Ramone Moore. Fernandez is the first local player from this year's class of graduates or eligibles to sign a pro deal.
While Fernandez's future is now secure, Temple basketball fans will turn their attention to Moore as he (more than likely) takes his shot at the NBA this summer and Eric as he likewise evaluates his professional prospects.
