Scary moment for the Bruins' Adam McQuaid in the waning minutes of the first period tonight, when he strided toward Mike Richards behind the Boston net and missed him on a check attempt.
McQuaid went very awkwardly into the boards and stayed on the ice for a while before being helped off by his teammates.

Flyers fans gave him applause as he left the ice. Hard to say what he was going for on that hit, possibly even trying to catch Richie with an elbow, but it didn't go so well. Earlier in the game, McQuaid drew a boarding call on Jody Shelley when he stood over the puck facing the boards, waiting for a hit rather than making a play. Hopefully he's OK in any case. It just looked worse with every replay. [Update: McQuaid will not return to the game and has been taken to Jefferson Hospital.]
