The day after the Phillies now legendary 19 inning game against the Reds in which Wilson Valdez pitched a scoreless frame, the Phils utility-man-turned-hurler was asked if he had heard from the Hall of Fame yet. "They're still sleeping," Valdez joked.
They eventually woke up, and called the Phillies for the game-worn cap off of Wilson's head from the memorable evening. Today, the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown tweeted thee above photo with the following text, "Just arrived:Cap worn by the Phils' Wilson Valdez on May 26 when the INF notched a win vs. Reds."
Yes, that appears to be dried shaving cream on the side of his cap. Tomas Perez's influence will live on forever.
