Eagles Injury Update: Byron Maxwell, Jason Peters return

Share

Byron Maxwell and Jason Peters both returned to Eagles practice after missing sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Maxwell (quadriceps) and Peters (quadriceps) were both seen in full practice gear with helmets during the opening portion of practice, which is open to the media.

Maxwell got hurt in the first quarter of the Eagles' loss to the Redskins Sunday and didn't return to the game. Peters was initially hurt in the Jets game and aggravated the injury Sunday in Landover. After practice, Peters vowed to play Sunday.

Lane Johnson (knee, ankle), who was very limited during practice Wednesday, also was participating at the start of Thursday’s workout.

Only three Eagles, all on defense, were on the sideline and appeared to be sitting out the workout: defensive end Brandon Bair (groin), and inside linebackers Mychal Kendricks (hamstring) and Kiko Alonso (knee).

Alonso got hurt in the Dallas game, had arthroscopic surgery and is out indefinitely. Bair was injured in the Redskins game. Kendricks was originally hurt in the Cowboys game, missed the Jets and aggravated the injury Sunday against the Redskins.

Also practicing Thursday were left guard Allen Barbre (groin), defensive end Taylor Hart (shoulder), safety Chris Maragos (quad) and defensive end Cedric Thornton (hand).

(Update, 4:10 p.m.: All Eagles except Bair, Kendricks and Alonso were officially listed as full participants in Thursday's practice.)

Johnson said Wednesday he’s definitely playing against the Saints Sunday, and Barbre has participated all week.

Kelly said Wednesday that Johnson could get some work at left tackle if Peters is unable to play. Johnson said Wednesday he expects to start at right tackle.
