As of early Friday afternoon, Doug Pederson said Jason Peters needed to undergo a few more tests to determine the severity of his biceps injury but said early indications are “positive.”
Meanwhile, Sidney Jones (hamstring) is considered “week to week” by Pederson, so expect Jones to miss at least a game or two.
Peters, 36, left the Giants game early in the second half and was then ruled out.
“Early indication, again, I don’t want to speculate too much, but it’s positive,” Pederson said. “And we’ll see. Kind of a day to day and I just gotta wait and make sure all the information is accurate.”
That seems to mesh with what NBC Sports Philadelphia’s Derrick Gunn reported early Friday morning.
Peters came into Thursday’s game with a nagging quad injury and now has a biceps injury. When asked if the Eagles might consider sitting Peters for a while to rest and get healthy, Pederson said, “Those are all things we’ll consider.”
Halapoulivaati Vaitai entered the game for Peters and played the rest of the way. While Vaitai struggled this preseason and at times earlier this season, he did take over for Peters at left tackle last year during the Super Bowl run.

While Big V has gotten used to getting in games on the fly, he seems to play much better when he gets a chance to practice all week as a starter.
“You’re taking every rep, you’re seeing the fronts, you’re seeing the defense every single snap,” Pederson said. “It’s with any player that gets an opportunity to play the position all week and take all those reps, it just makes you better and more prepared going into a game.”
After Jones left the game early in the second quarter after just eight snaps, he was immediately ruled out. That indicated the injury was pretty serious and Pederson’s calling the injury “week to week” seemed to confirm that.
The big question going forward is how the Eagles will handle their secondary. On Thursday, they moved Avonte Maddox into the slot corner spot and brought Rasul Douglas on the field as a safety. Pederson mentioned there’s a chance that’s the plan going forward, but they could also play Tre Sullivan or Deiondre’ Hall, who are safeties by definition.
The Eagles will have 10 days before their next game, so they’ll have time to answer all these questions.
