Gunn-On-One: Corey Clement talks about not being elevated to feature back status

Share

It was assumed that Corey Clement would move into a feature back role, but that has not been the case.

We discussed how Clement feels about that and more in this week’s Gunn-on-One.

Gunn: Since Jay Ajayi has gone down, you’ve had only 24 touches. How frustrating is it that your role hasn’t increased even more so?

Clement: Being put in the situations, I try not to put my stats first. I try to be a team-oriented player every time I step out there regardless of the amount of touches I get. For those who do know, every time I get a chance I try to make an impact as much as possible because just around the league, not everybody gets their fair share of the ball as much as they should. That’s just the nature of the business, but when you do get a shot, it’s always good to leave a positive note. When you do get a chance and make an opportunity count, that’s when you know you can definitely be trusted.

Gunn: Jacksonville is a team like yourselves. Everybody projected them to be this Super Bowl contender. They’ve been struggling to stay afloat. When you look at their defense they’ve got talent across the board. What jumps out at you even though they’re struggling right now?

Clement: Jacksonville is a sound defense. Great defensive front. Probably one of the top defenses we play this year. Regardless of their record, that’s not who they truly are, just like us. I think it’s going to be a great matchup that we get a chance to display in London for the first time. It’s going to be a fun time, an awesome trip, but at the same time, we are going there to win. I really don’t want to get caught up in the travel experiences. We want to go out at Wembley Stadium and be victorious.

My extended conversation with Clement comes your way Sunday between 8 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. on Eagles Pregame Live on NBC Sports Philadelphia. Or watch our pre and postgame shows on the #MyTeams Philadelphia sports app.

I’ll be on live before and after the game from across the pond. Cheerio!
