Jason Pierre-Paul's situation apparently got messier.
Pierre-Paul, who was hurt on July 4 in an incident involving fireworks, had his right index finger amputated on Wednesday, according to a report by NJ.com's Jordan Raanan. Per the report, the decision was his own and is to minimize the damage.
On Monday, the Giants reportedly withdrew their $60 million contract offer to Pierre-Paul. The 26-year-old defensive end has yet to sign his $14.8 million franchise-tag tender, therefore he is not under contract.
According to the report, Pierre-Paul is expected to play in 2015 and could be ready by the season opener.
Pierre-Paul had 12½ sacks last season and a career-high 16½ in 2011.
