Jordan Hall talked with Cutter Gauthier after the prospect was selected by the Flyers at fifth overall in the 2022 NHL draft. Gauthier was born in Sweden but his parents met in Reading, Pennsylvania.

The Flyers took their only defenseman of the 2022 NHL draft in the sixth round Friday at Montreal's Bell Centre.

With the 165th overall pick, the club grabbed Hunter McDonald, a 6-foot-4, 205-pound lefty shot out of the USHL.

In 54 games between the Omaha Lancers and Chicago Steel, the 20-year-old recorded four goals, 10 assists and a plus-14 rating. He's regarded for effort and physicality in the way he defends.

During 2018-19, McDonald had 12 goals and 12 assists over 17 games for Fairport High School in New York.

He's set to play collegiately at Northeastern in 2022-23.
