Let's get this out of the way first: Wawa is solid.
Wawa isn't just a convenience store where you can get some bread, milk, and smokes. It's also a place where you can get an affordable and most-of-the-time decent-enough lunch or dinner in a pinch.
You will not eat the best hoagie of your life there but for $5 during Hoagiefest you can't really beat the deal on a Classsic meatball or Italian.
Now that we have that out of the way: Wawa is an awful place to celebrate a momentous occasion like an anniversary, a birthday, or something as great as winning a GOLD MEDAL IN THE OLYMPICS.
As you may have learned via New York Times iPhone alert yesterday afternoon, the U.S. women's gymnastic team took home the gold in the team competition. You may have also seen it aired on NBC a couple of hours later. One of the key members of that team is New Jersey gymnast Laurie Hernandez. She's a boss on pretty much every event and we'll hopefully see the 16-year-old in future Olympics down the road. The young woman is an amazing athlete that America should be proud of.
Laurie sent a selfie of herself wearing her newly acquired gold medal to her brother back home who hadn't even watched the competition yet. He then shared said image with a heartfelt message on Instagram. It included a line at the end that Philly peeps may appreciate.
Now, first off: that's adorable. What a great thing to share between siblings. And perhaps the two of them have some special bond over Wawa trips, which is fine!
But your sis just won a gold medal. Buck up and take her out for a nice Sarcone's hoagie or a DiNic's roast pork.
