2020 Phillies schedule update: Make-up games against Blue Jays, Marlins announced

How will the Phillies make up all those postponed games, you ask?

MLB revealed the revised schedule on Thursday afternoon, which affects six Phillies make-up games — three against the Blue Jays and three against the Marlins.

The Blue Jays series was the one the Phillies had postponed last weekend. The Marlins series was supposed to take place this week but was changed to a make-up series between the Phillies and Yankees, who had all four of their games postponed last week after the Phillies came in contact with a Miami team that experienced a COVID-19 breakout.

Here are the specifics on these make-up games:

Phillies-Blue Jays

• The Phillies will make up two of the three games against the Blue Jays with a seven-inning doubleheader in Buffalo on Thursday, Aug. 20. It begins at 1:05 p.m. The Phillies were originally off on Aug. 20.

• The other Phillies-Blue Jays game will be made up during their scheduled series at Citizens Bank Park the weekend of Sept. 18-20. On Friday, Sept. 18, the teams will play a doubleheader at CBP with the Blue Jays serving as the home team in Game 1 and the Phillies as the home team in Game 2. Same thing as Wednesday's doubleheader against the Yankees.

The Phillies will end up playing seven games against the Marlins in a five-day span in Miami from Sept. 10-14. The opening weekend series and this seven-game series account for all 10 of the Phillies' meetings with the Marlins in 2020.

It was originally supposed to be a three-game series from Sept. 10-13. Instead, the teams will play doubleheaders on Sept. 11 and Sept. 13 and play the seventh and final game on Sept. 14.

Phillies-Red Sox

The Phillies' two-game home series against the Red Sox on Sept. 8-9 has been changed to a doubleheader on Sept. 8 beginning at 4:05 p.m. This schedule change gives the Phillies an off-day on Sept. 9 before they play 17 games in 14 days.
