Opening Day: The first of 162 Phillies lineups

Share

Phillies manager Joe Girardi has posted his opening day lineup for today’s 3 p.m. start against the Atlanta Braves.

The lineup is about as expected. Girardi answered the only real mystery by giving Adam Haseley the starting nod in center field.

So here is how the Phils will go against Atlanta lefty Max Fried:

1. Andrew McCutchen LF

2. Rhys Hoskins 1B

3. Bryce Harper RF

4. J.T. Realmuto C

5. Alec Bohm 3B

6. Didi Gregorius SS

7. Jean Segura 2B

8. Adam Haseley CF

9. Aaron Nola P

Nola is making his fourth straight opening day start.

Two of Nola's previous three opening day starts were against the Braves. There was the debacle of 2018, when first-year manager Gabe Kapler removed him at 68 pitches with a 5-0 lead in the sixth inning. The Phils ended up losing that game, 8-5. A year later, Nola got another shot at the Braves on opening day. He pitched six innings of one-run ball and got the win.

Last year, Nola lost the opener to Miami.

Nola has made 20 starts in his career against Atlanta. He is 11-6 with a 3.05 ERA.

Here are the TV details for today’s opener.
