The Sixers won’t need to wait to be tested.

The team will kick off the 2022-23 NBA season on Oct. 18 in Boston against the Eastern Conference champion Celtics. Next up is a home-opening matchup with the Bucks on Oct. 20.

Here is the Sixers' full schedule:

The NBA will play no games this year on Election Day, which is Tuesday, Nov. 8. The league said the decision “came out of the NBA family’s focus on promoting nonpartisan civic engagement and encouraging fans to make a plan to vote during midterm elections.”

All-Star Weekend will be held from Feb. 17 through Feb. 19 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

The Sixers released their preseason schedule earlier this month:

  • Monday, Oct. 3: Sixers at Nets, 7:30 p.m. ET
  • Wednesday, Oct. 5: Sixers vs. Cavs, 7 p.m. ET
  • Monday, Oct. 10: Sixers at Cavs, 7 p.m. ET
  • Wednesday Oct. 12: Sixers vs. Hornets, 7 p.m. ET

The 2021-22 Sixers began 8-2 amid the Ben Simmons saga, but they struggled while Joel Embiid was sidelined with a serious case of COVID-19 and dropped to 16-16 with a Dec. 23 loss to the Hawks. The Celtics, Bucks and Sixers all finished 51-31, but the Sixers were the East’s fourth seed because they lost tiebreakers to Boston and Milwaukee.

Overall, the Sixers were impressive on the road and disappointing at home last season. The team’s 27-14 away record was its best since the 2000-01 season. The Sixers have not been past the second round of the playoffs since that Allen Iverson-led squad’s run to the NBA Finals.

President of basketball operations Daryl Morey hopes that offseason pickups P.J. Tucker, De’Anthony Melton and Danuel House Jr. help the Sixers overcome the second-round barrier. He’ll get to see his team play two potential postseason opponents right off the bat.
