Cliff Lee Throws Second Consecutive Complete Game Shutout, Phils Win 4-0

Share

Cliff Lee had one of those nights that reminds you just how good it is to be a Philadelphia Phillies fan these days. Lee threw a complete game shutout against the St. Louis Cardinals, allowing only six hits, walking the first batter of the game, and striking out a very un-Lee-like three batters.

Lee, after noting in his postgame interview that he was not thrilled about throwing seven straight balls to begin the game, actually admitted he was quite happy with the complete game shutout victory, going as far as saying he was "very pleased." He's not the only one.

Jimmy Rollins jacked a solo shot and Ryan Howard hit his Busch Stadium-best 9th home run as an opposing player. That was all the offense they would need with Clifton Phifer dealing.

Cliff Lee was filthy, the defense was phenomenal behind him, and the offense showed some pop. An all around great win for the Phillies.
