Downie Punches Blake, Niitty Sets Saves Mark, Flyers Win 3-2

After scoring his first goal of his career, Steve Downie's encore was throwing an after-the-whistle punch at Toronto's Jason Blake later in the game. You may remember Blake from the October announcement that he has a rare form of leukemia. And thus, another chapter is added to the short but interesting Chronicles of Steve Downie. UPDATE: Here's the video.

Toronto scored on the power play, their 48th of the game. The Flyers ended up winning, 3-2, on goals by three Ontario natives (Downie, Carter, Richards). Antero Niittymaki set a club record for saves in a non-OT game (54; h/t: Clare), and the Flyers let up a club record in shots (56), which had stood since 1977. It wasn't all their fault though; the refs did their best to keep the Leafs on the power-play all night.

Congrats to Niitty!
