Malvern's Gamp Pellegrini Retires On Top

The Malvern Friars varsity football team had a perfect undefeated season this year and put together one of their greatest squads ever. Not many people walk away when they're at the top, but that's what head football coach Gamp Pellegrini has decided to do.

In an email this morning to alumni, Father Flynn writes, "The day that for 30 years I feared would come arrived yesterday. Yesterday morning, Gamp Pellegrini announced to Stew and me that he was retiring as our head football coach. Gamp has been not just the face of Malvern football for 31 years, but also its heart and soul. We will miss him immensely."

The Daily News notes that Gamp's final game was one to remember:

Pellegrini's last game as a head coach was a thriller. At packed
Villanova Stadium on Thanksgiving Day, the Friars rallied from a 21-0
deficit to beat Catholic League power St. Joseph's Prep, 34-27, and
avenge a 33-6 defeat a year earlier.

Farewell, Gamp. It was a good run.
