The NHL is looking to continue its trend of increasing its appeal in interesting ways, announcing this weekend that the Penguins and the Senators will open the 2008-2009 season by playing two games in Sweden. Sweden is an international hockey mecca, with talented players at all levels and rabid fans. Increasing the already growing interest the Swedes have in North American hockey can only be a good thing, and, if nationally televised, the games should see a small ratings bump, a great start to the publicity season.
