Skateboarding in Love Park may no longer be legal but the kiddies trying to gleam the cube are still fighting for a place where they can skate in peace in Philadelphia. From Love comes Paine. The Paine's Park Project is making it happen. A little bit about the project from their website:
In 2003 we were inspired. We were inspired by the City of Philadelphia,
City Council and Mayor John Street when they said, “Here's 2.5 acres,
now go make a skatepark.” We talked to our neighbors and friends,
community leaders, and an architect. What was imagined was not a
skatepark. It was a park, for everyone, that just happens to be
skateboard friendly.
The design looks pretty sweet but the site is not completely worked out yet. They're having a fund raiser tomorrow dubbed "Paine's World" featuring both DJs and bands. If you've got nothing to do Saturday night, the project is certainly a good cause to get behind so show your support. It's common sense, really.
Philebrity caught up with them and put together the below video.
