After the recent GM meetings, the Phillies and Cardinals were proclaimed to be the leaders in the race for a Matt Holliday rental. Turns out the A's nabbed him:
The A's are closing in on a deal with the Rockies that would send star outfielder Matt Holliday to Oakland from Colorado, SI.com has learned. The players Colorado would receive are not yet known.
Works for me. Get him over in the AL where he can't hurt us this year.
I never really thought a deal for 1 year of Holliday was in the cards
for the Phillies, but it was interesting how much play the possibility
got in the press.
