Initial reports had America's Showplace scheduled to be knocked down some time this summer but due to economic conditions holding up the planned replacement site, the building may stand a bit longer.
"Tentatively, New Year's Eve," said Lou Scheinfeld, the original
Spectrum executive who came back to shepherd the yearlong closing of
the building. "At least that's my idea right now."
Times Square, a black tie affair in Center City, or a parking lot in South Philly covered in dust. Who wouldn't choose the latter to ring in 2010?
