This isn't the first time a player has been traded from one team to another only to have his original team still move ahead with a planned giveaway featuring said player. The Phillies still gave out those Hunter Pence bobbleheads after he was sent packing to San Francisco and we were there to document fan reactions.
But Marlon Byrd is no longer a Met after getting traded to the Pirates this afternoon in a deal that seems pretty positive for New York. They got a promising prospect in return for a guy who likely won't be around next season anyway and a bad contract.

As for the action on the field this evening, the Phillies turn to Kyle Kendrick (10-10, 4.51) who is looking for his 11th win of the season and will take on Mets lefty Jonathan Niese (5-6, 4.03).
It's always a nice reminder when the Phillies play the Mets that things could be worse in regards to your favorite baseball team. New York has dropped their last five games and are also losers of their last five at CitiField.
7:05 start time. Sharkadina is your leadoff man this evening.
