Cole Hamels got booed on Tuesday night. Whatever, he pitched awful,
and probably deserved to hear it a bit. But don't think nothing
productive came out of that Tuesday night loss to the Mets because
Charlie Manuel was asked on Wednesday about fans booing and the Phils
skipper provided a couple of gems.
Ryan Lawrence of the Delco Times has the context, and additional story about giving a fan in Springfield his jersey and telling him to go coach third base while Charlie drank the fans' beer,
but we thought we'd give you a little sample, "One day in Colorado
Springs two guyswere sitting in the stands. The guys were screaming at
me and I justwalked from the third-base coaches box and grabbed a
hold of one of themand was shaking him. I don’t think I could do that
in Philly."
Pretty sure that wouldn't fly, but it would be entertaining as hell.
