The trade that brought Mutombo to Philly was a somewhat controversial one at the time, but the end result was the Sixers making it to the NBA finals. In the end I think it was a good idea bringing him in for his short time here. Dikembe was always a likable guy when he played for the Sixers and has continued to do great things for his native Congo. He has recently donated $15 million for a hospital there:
The Houston Rockets center, who donated $15 million to the
project, will open the doors to the Biamba Marie Mutombo Hospital
and Research Center on Sept. 2. The 300-bed hospital will provide
health care to people in Kinshasa, capital of the Democratic
Republic of Congo, where Mutombo was born.
