The Eagles are division winners, they’ve made the playoffs in each of the last three years and they’re still not the favorites to win the NFC East.
NFL Hall of Famer LaDainian Tomlinson doesn’t get it.
On NFL Total Access, the three-man panel was asked to each name one team they think is underhyped going into the 2020 season and Tomlinson picked the Eagles:
Remember, last year the Philadelphia Eagles had to win their last four games to get into the playoffs. So they won all their last four straight games, averaged almost 28 points per game. And yet everyone is talking about the Dallas Cowboys. But when you look at it, Carson Wentz last year was throwing to guys I don’t even know. Guys like Greg Ward Jr. and guys like that.
“He has a slew of guys coming back. They have really built a track team at the wide receiver position, when you talk about DeSean Jackson coming back, they drafted Jalen Reagor out of TCU, they got Marquise Goodwin this offseason, and not to mention, Alshon Jeffery is coming back. I love what this team has done on offense.
“I think their defense is going to be better; they traded for Darius Slay. So this is a team that nobody is really talking about but they won their division last year! So Philadelphia is going to be scary.
And Tomlinson didn’t even mention Miles Sanders, the running back coming into his second NFL season after setting an Eagles rookie record in scrimmage yards in 2019.
Despite all those reasons Tomlinson gave, the Cowboys consistently have shorter odds to win the NFC East, according to most sportsbooks.

Here are the other two teams picked by the panel:
Kurt Warner: Cleveland Browns
Steve Mariucci: Arizona Cardinals
The Cardinals won five games last year and the Browns won six. Meanwhile, the Eagles went 9-7, winning their final four games in the regular season and might have beaten the Seahawks in the Wild Card round if Wentz didn’t get knocked out of the game by Jadeveon Clowney.
