Marquise Goodwin responds after Tyreek Hill challenges him to a race

After Tyreek Hill called out Eagles receiver Marquise Goodwin on television on Thursday, Goodwin has responded.

Hill asked Goodwin to @ him on Twitter and Goodwin has … 12 times.

This tweet from Goodwin, whom the Eagles acquired in a trade earlier this offseason, came after Hill was on ESPN’s first take and called out Goodwin by name when asked who has challenged him to a race.

“Look man, I’m gonna tell you like this. If these people really wanted to race me, they would personally message me on Twitter, on Instagram. They wouldn’t go on Twitter and talk trash and then not @ me. If you’re gonna go on Twitter and talk trash, at least @ me dawg. At least @ me.”

Hill was then asked who “they” was.

“Marquise Goodwin, whoever, we can do whatever,” Hill said. “I already proved I’m better than you at wide receiver, at wideout, now I gotta prove to you that I’m faster than you too? That’s really going to hurt. When I’m faster than you and I move better than you, that’s really going to hurt. But all love to you though, next time just @ me though. I just need you to @ me.”

It would be a fun race. That’s for sure.

Earlier this offseason, Chad Johnson wondered aloud on Twitter who would win in a 4x100 relay: Chiefs receivers or Eagles receivers. And although the Chiefs just won the Super Bowl, that doesn’t necessarily mean they’d win this race.

I looked at that hypothetical 4x100 race in May and had Hill and Goodwin as the two anchors.

Goodwin is 29 now but he’s literally an Olympic athlete, competing in the 2012 Summer Olympics. Back when he came out of Texas, Goodwin was clocked running a 4.27 time in the 40-yard dash. And he once ran a 10.24 in the 100-meter dash.

Hill is younger (26) and has a strong case as well. He ran a 4.29 at his pro day in 2016 but is likely even faster. His PR in the 100-meter dash is a 10.19 and he once ran a 9.98 wind-aided time. Since NFL NextGen Stats became available four seasons ago, Hill has the fastest recorded time of any ball carrier at 23.24 mph.

So who would win in a race?

I don’t know. But I’d sign up to watch it.
