The Eagles have found their replacement for Duce Staley, hiring Jemal Singleton as their new running backs coach and assistant head coach, according to Matt Jones of Kentucky Sports Radio.
If Singleton is indeed an assistant head coach, he’ll have the same title that Staley had for his last couple seasons in Philly.

This is the last major position coach role the Eagles had to fill. So we can probably expect an announcement of the full coaching staff coming soon.
Here’s a look at the coaching staff, based on various reports:
Head coach: Nick Sirianni
Defensive coordinator: Jonathan Gannon
NFL
Offensive coordinator: Shane Steichen
Special teams coordinator: Michael Clay
Quarterbacks coach: Brian Johnson
Running backs/assistant head coach: Jemal Singleton
Pass game coordinator: Kevin Patullo
Wide receivers: Aaron Moorehead
Tight ends: Jason Michael
Offensive line: Jeff Stoutland
Defensive line: Tracy Rocker
Defensive backs: Dennard Wilson
Linebackers: Nick Rallis
TBD: Jay Valai
Singleton, 45, was just hired by the University of Kentucky as their running backs coach and special teams coordinator but his stay there was short. Kentucky announced the hire on Jan. 7 and he’s already gone.
Before his month-long stay in Kentucky, Singleton had been in the NFL for several seasons. He was with the Bengals from 2019-20, the Raiders in 2018 and the Colts from 2016-17.
So the Eagles have hired another former Colts coach but this one didn’t work with Nick Sirianni, who arrived in Indianapolis in 2018 as their offensive coordinator under Frank Reich.
Singleton began his coaching career with Air Force and moved up the ranks in his 10 year-stint there. Eventually, he went to Oklahoma State and Arkansas before jumping to the NFL in 2016.
Singleton has coached NFL running backs like Joe Mixon in Cincinnati and Frank Gore in Indianapolis.
In Philadelphia, Singleton will inherit a young and talented running back in Miles Sanders. No. 2 running back Boston Scott is a pending restricted free agent.
Staley, who moved on to Detroit this offseason, had been the Eagles running backs coach since 2013. Before Duce took over, Ted Williams was the Eagles’ running backs coach from 1997-2012. So Singleton is just the Eagles’ third running backs coach in 24 years.
