The Flyers on Tuesday officially added Danny Briere to their hockey operations staff, naming him special assistant to the general manager.
The beloved former Flyer had become more and more involved within the club's hockey operations department, slowly transitioning his focus from player development to player personnel.
The Flyers value Briere's sense for talent evaluation.

"I'm very happy to add Danny to our hockey operations team in a full-time role," Flyers general manager Chuck Fletcher said in a statement released by the team. "His insight and experience from 25 years in professional hockey, as well as firsthand knowledge of the Philadelphia Flyers, is a valuable asset for our organization and I look forward to working closely with him on a day-to-day basis."

The 44-year-old's responsibilities will include all aspects of talent evaluation, from special assignment scouting to amateur scouting, as well as still being a resource for player development.

"Philadelphia is a place that I've called home for a long time and have had some of the most memorable moments in my career. I want to thank Chuck Fletcher and Dave Scott for their confidence and support over the last several years, and I look forward to helping them continue to build a successful team on and off the ice."
