Lindblom's girlfriend Alma Lindqvist shares touching message and update

It's December and Oskar Lindblom is back in the Philadelphia area ready to gear up for the Flyers' 2020-21 season.

Considering where he was last December, you can't help but marvel at the sentence above.

This time last year, Lindblom was in Philly and his cancer fight had just begun after he was diagnosed with Ewing's sarcoma.

According to a recent Instagram post by his girlfriend Alma Lindqvist, Lindblom has remained cancer-free since his fight culminated with the completion of his radiation treatments in July, when he was deemed without evidence of cancer.

"He’s one of the toughest guys I know," Kevin Hayes said in July. "Every time you saw him, he was upbeat, he was happy. If it wasn’t for him losing his hair, you probably wouldn’t have known he had cancer."

Inspirationally and remarkably, Lindblom returned to the Flyers during the second round of the 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs in September.

“For me, doesn’t it say so much about the young man?” Flyers head coach Alain Vigneault said after the team's second-round Game 6 win over the Islanders, when Lindblom played his first game since Dec. 7, 2019. “He gets cleared from cancer on July 2, we start our camp on July 13. He goes back home for a couple of days. It just shows you about the young man and his will to help. He comes back, he spends a couple of days in quarantine and starts working out. A month later, he’s helping his teammates win a Game 6 that’s giving us a chance at a Game 7. Considering our situation tonight that [Sean Couturier] and [Joel Farabee] weren’t available, for him to want to play just says so much about the young man.”

Following the Flyers' Game 7 loss, Lindblom said he was eager to "get back on track and start a new season here."

The opportunity is just about here.
