The Bay Area’s poor air quality is adding an extra twist to the San Francisco 49ers’ home opener in Santa Clara Thursday night.

An air quality alert for the entire Philadelphia area continued into Thursday due to a blanket of smoke from Canadian wildfires causing hazy conditions throughout the region. But it was improving on Friday morning.
