Flyers may need to make lineup change, not throwing a parade after one win

As Mike Yeo said, the Flyers' goal now is to "make it two."

After halting a franchise-worst 13-game losing streak, the Flyers will try to head into the All-Star break on a winning streak.

Coming off their first victory since Dec. 29, the Flyers (14-22-8) host the Jets (18-16-7) on Tuesday.

Let's get into the essentials for the game:

  • When: 7 p.m. ET with The Warm Up at 6 p.m. ET and Flyers Pregame Live at 6:15 p.m. ET
  • Where: Wells Fargo Center
  • Broadcast: NBC Sports Philadelphia
  • Live stream: NBCSportsPhiladelphia.com and the NBC Sports MyTeams app

• Morgan Frost missed practice Monday and did not partake in morning skate Tuesday as the 22-year-old center is feeling under the weather. His status will be a game-time decision.

"He's still feeling a little bit rundown I would say is how we would describe it this morning," Yeo, the Flyers' interim head coach, said. "We are hoping and he's hopeful to take warmup tonight and determine whether he's a player after that."

If Frost can't suit up, Jackson Cates will enter the lineup and play fourth-line center. Connor Bunnaman will slide up to third-line center and play in Frost's spot.

• The Flyers edged the Kings, 4-3, in overtime last Saturday to finally end their 0-10-3 slide.

"We've got to keep building on that and take it a day at a time," Scott Laughton said. "I know it’s a cliché but we actually need to do that."

The Flyers are hoping that victory alleviates the dark cloud that formed over their heads from the skid.

"You get challenged in so many different ways," Yeo said. "You look at some of the ways we lost games — we have the win, we're a few minutes away from either closing out the deal or from going to overtime, and just finding a way to lose. It's incredibly disheartening. For the guys to get rewarded for their effort last game, I think that's real positive.

"I do feel that there's a little bit of relief in getting rid of some of that pressure. I also don't think that everyone's running around, having a parade because we won one game. And I certainly hope not. We've got one game before the break here, it's going to be a good challenge. I hope that that relieves some pressure and we can go into the game and just sort of focus on tonight and not carry any of the baggage from what's going on."

After tonight's matchup, the Flyers aren't back in game action until the following Wednesday when they host the Red Wings (7 p.m. ET/NBCSP).

• Carter Hart has allowed more than three goals in a game only once since Dec. 8.

In that stretch, the 23-year-old is 3-7-2 with a 2.77 goals-against average and .915 save percentage.

In the decision over the Kings, Hart made 37 saves and picked up his first victory since Dec. 14.

"Playing real well right now," Yeo said. "It's huge to get that win for him. Obviously goalies, it's an immense amount of pressure that those guys have to deal with. We weren't scoring goals and making some big mistakes at big times, but I thought he was bailing us out.

"I think that he's been ultra competitive lately and I think he's had a great attitude the way he's been attacking every game."
